HPV Vaccination
HPV Vaccine is now available at Student Health Services
Gardasil® (manufactured by Merck & Co.) is the first FDA-approved vaccine developed to prevent cervical cancer and other diseases in females caused by certain types of genital human papillomavirus (HPV). The vaccine protects against four HPV types, which together cause 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts. The vaccine is approved for use in girls/women ages 9-26 years. The vaccine is given through a series of three shots over a six-month period.
This vaccine is now available at Student Health Service through the Womens’ Clinic at a cost of $155.00 per injection (series of 3 injections at 0, 2 and 6 months).
NOTE: If your insurance plan is Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, CIGNA, HealthNet or Tricare we can submit a claim directly to these carriers for you. Note that this does not guarantee the service will be covered! You should contact your plan at the number listed on your card to find out if this vaccine is covered. Please do this prior to receiving the vaccine. If your coverage is through any other insurer the fee will be posted to your university fee bill or you can pay by cash or check at the time of service. Our business office can provide you with a receipt that you may submit to your plan when requesting reimbursement.
